Savoring grace

by Michael

Bread that rebounds from butter’s assault teaches us to have a backbone
ruby red roma tomatoes reveal more beauty than gaudy gems
problems like avocado can’t be avoided
miseries of my heart melt like cheese
bacon blesses my taste buds with bliss
mysteries crack with every bite of onion
transgressions washed away by juicy turkey
I lay my past as a sacrifice on the altar of lettuce
resting as all lays softly on a fluffy bed cradled in toasted golden bread
I eat away my trouble with every bite

And I am savoring grace
